Need B1 Italian for Italian Citizenship?
The CELI 2 (B1) certification can be used to demonstrate the B1 Italian language proficiency required for Italian citizenship applications, where applicable. You can take the CELI 2 (B1) exam directly at our authorized examination center in Orlando, Florida. We recommend completing the language certification early in your citizenship process, as CELI certification does not expire and official results may require several months to be released.

Certificates are granted by CVCL. Most importantly, all CELI certificates possess the Q-Mark, a quality indicator awarded by ALTE once a rigorous audit has been passed.

Official CVCL Exam Guidelines

  • Candidates must present a valid government-issued photo ID on exam day.

  • The CELI exams evaluate reading, writing, listening, speaking, and structural competence according to the CEFR.

  • Each part of the test carries equal weight; partial retakes are possible if you fail only one or two sections.

  • Results are issued by CVCL within 3–4 months and certificates are digital and/or printed from Perugia.

  • B1 “Cittadinanza” level is required by the Italian Ministry of Interior for citizenship applications.

  • No electronic devices or dictionaries are allowed during the exam.
